Last year the Nebraska Legislature passed and the governor signed legislation to authorize online notaries. This allows for an online notary public to notarize a document remotely, without the principal(s) being in the online notary public's physical presence. While that law was scheduled to take effect on July 1st, the governor signed an executive order for implementation of the Nebraska Online Notary Public Act effective on April 2nd. NEBRASKA TO RECEIVE $1.25 BILLION IN CORONAVIRUS AID
The economic relief bill that federal lawmakers have reportedly reached an agreement on includes $150 billion designated for state efforts to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act provides for this state aid under the auspices of a new Coronavirus Relief Fund. View full article here.
MAIL IN VOTING APPLICATIONS
If you are a registered voter in Nebraska, you should have received a green postcard in the mail for you to request an early mail in ballot. If not, applications also may be completed at https://sos.nebraska.gov/elections/early-voting. You must request a mail-in ballot by May 1, 2020.

PAYCHECK PROTECTION PROGRAM
The federal Paycheck Protection Program includes sole proprietors and independent contractors. They are eligible for SBA 7(a) loans in response to COVID-19 covering expenses for the period of February 15, 2020 through June 30, 2020. The loan amount will be 250% of the average salary expenditures/month for the year prior to the loan. View more information here.
